Aliena's little book corner

I live books, books, books. Reading is my passion. I'd do it all day if there weren't these little things called work and boyfriend (even though I do love my bf like crazy ;))

Shock & Awe (A Sidewinder Story)

Shock & Awe - Abigail Roux Hot. But too short. I need more. They seriously have the potential to compete with Ty and Zane for hottest couple.

Fractured

Fractured - Teri Terry 3.5 stars
I have a hard time rating this book. It had so many roll-my-eyes-worthy moments that before I got to the end I was even thinking of rating it with only 2 stars. But I have to say the last 20% were good, interesting, intriguing and enough to make me curious of the next book.

Slated

Slated - Teri Terry Hm, not sure what to say. The story was good, intriguing and kept me interested. The romance, not sure I can call it that, was meh. I didn't like Ben all that much. I don't get what Kyla sees in him. The dialogue of the German version, was horrible. I will try the next book and see if it's as stilted and weird as in the German version, or if that was due to the translation.

Safeword (Power Exchange, #2)

Safeword (Power Exchange, #2) - A.J. Rose The first one got to me more. But this ones was still a solid 5 stars. I really liked the case and the conflict between Ben and Gavin. Yay, for the ending.

Power Exchange

Power Exchange - A.J. Rose Oh. My. God. I wish I could give this book more than 5 stars, because it was so, so, so good. It gripped me tight and never let go. Honsetly, the emotion and imitaty between Ben and Gavin were so wonderfully to read. I was touched the whole time. I did know who the murder was but I didn't take away from my love for these two.

Rough Canvas (Nature of Desire Series #6)

Rough Canvas - Joey W. Hill I have a hard time rating this book. I liked it, a lot, so I think I'm gonna settle on 4 stars (it is probably somewhere between 3.5 and 4 stars, but since that's not a real rating, I go with 4 stars). It was a great story. Wonderful storytelling and writing. But for me the flow was too slow at times. All the description and spending pages after pages in a character's head was just a little much to me, so much that I found skimming pages, especially at the end. It's sad really, because the love story behind this is amazing. But I like my books with a little more action. Thomas and Marcus are wonderful characters, even though I could have done without the explanaition to Marcus' past. I think it would have worked just as well if the author would have tried to go another way. I wanted to throttle both guys from time to time, but I'm glad it worked out in the end.

Dare You To

Dare You To - Katie McGarry 3.5 stars

I liked to get to know Beth better and Ryan was a great character too. But at times I just wanted to throttle both of them. At least everything worked out in the end.

Crossing the Line (Pushing the Limits, #1.5)

Crossing the Line (Pushing the Limits, #1.5) - Katie McGarry 3.5

I don't know, maybe it's because the book is so short, but I didn't really feel with either Lincoln or Lila. I did enjoy it, it was an easy read for a couple of hours. But Pushing the Limits was way better.

Pushing the Limits (Harlequin Teen)

Pushing the Limits - Katie McGarry Edit 13/12/01: I've upgraded this to 5 stars, after reading the two other books and the novella in the series. It's definitely the best in my opinion.

I didn't know if I would like this. But I really did. It was a great read and flowed really well.

Divergent Untitled 3 Tpb

Allegiant - Veronica Roth 3.5

I feel like I don't really know what hit me. The ending of course. But it's not just that. At times the book felt all over the place and I had a hard time following what was going on in the regard to GD/GP or later re the Allegiant (which is by the way a completely misleading title in my opinion). I did catch up in the end, but yeah, I feel like if she'd taken a little more time to develop the plot instead of introducing characters who were uninteresting and essetially unnecessary, this could have been better.

I'm not angry or anything at VR for the ending it like that, but I feel like the last few chapters could have been executed better too. Tris' death felt really anti-climatic to me. I get why she died and I get why she did go instead of Caleb. But the moment she died, was just... I don't know, I didn't really feel it. I felt it when Cara tells Tobias - and maybe I was just in denial, thinking that she'd just be injured, so it only hit me at that point. I felt for Tobias, even though I knew that they wouldn't see each other again when they both said 'I love you' the last time they saw each other. I just knew it deep in my gut, even though I didn't know which one of them would die.

In the end it was a good read, leaving me in tears and with my heart torn apart. Not as emotionally drained as [b:Mockingjay|7260188|Mockingjay (The Hunger Games, #3)|Suzanne Collins|https://d202m5krfqbpi5.cloudfront.net/books/1358275419s/7260188.jpg|8812783] left me (that ending hit me even harder), but it still hurt (in a good way). But I probably won't be obsessing over this ending like I did with Mockingjay.

Divergent

Divergent - Veronica Roth This was all kinds of amazing and breathtaking. I'm so glad I waited until all books were out until I started reading it. I would have died of curiosity and anticipation if I had to wait to continue.

Touch & Geaux (Cut & Run)

Touch & Geaux - Abigail Roux Oh my. And now I have to wait til March 2014 to get my next fix? Man, sometimes it's so hard to be addicted to fictional characters. *hangs head*

I read a few reviews before actually starting the book and I knew it would probably tear my heart apart.

I'm glad she ended the book the way she did, though. It could have been so much worse. At least they were together at the end and they were working on everything. I think the ending would have been worse if Ty and Zane would have still be separated. So I'm glad that the book ended with them kissing - even though it was a goodbye kiss.

I had the feeling that things would blow up into their faces after the slow pace of book 6. Things couldn't be this good permanently. LOL

The secret was really shocking for me and I can understand Zane's anger. I was a little baffled by how calm Ty was, though. Yeah he apologized, but couldn't he imagined that that wouldn't be enough. I wonder if he didn't imagine himself in Zane's place to see that his anger was justified.

I think it's good that Zane finally did things for himself and got help because of himself and not of Ty. Because the way he falls off the wagon so quickly because of what Ty did was very alarming.

I guess for people who don't like angst or lots of it in their books this might be a hard read. But I loved it. It was exactly what I was hoping for. But I can't get enough angst in my books anyway. :D

Armed & Dangerous (Cut & Run Series)

Armed & Dangerous - Abigail Roux It's getting better and better.

Divide & Conquer (Cut & Run Series)

Divide & Conquer - Abigail Roux, Madeleine Urban I think despite the ending this has to have been my favorite so far. But I started Arm&Dangerous already, so who knows. ;D

The Swarm: A Novel

The Swarm - Sally-Ann Spencer, Frank Schätzing 3.5 stars

Oh man, when I first started this book I admit that I was about to put it away. The first quarter dragged on and on and I couldn't really get into it. For me it was way to much chewing on details. But then it picked up and it got good. In the end I'm glad I stayed with it and finished the book - even though the ending is a little eye-roll worthy.

Die Therapie

Die Therapie - Sebastian Fitzek Dieses Buch hat mich mit dem Ende so geschockt und das schaffen nur sehr wenige. Echt super.
